Product Overview:
The SOA nanosecond pulsed optical switch / optical modulation module uses the fast response of a semiconductor optical amplifier to realize high-speed optical switching, pulsed optical gating, and ns-level optical pulse modulation. It can serve as a light-source modulation unit, pulse generator, or high-speed optical gate in experimental systems.
Key Features:
• Supports high-speed optical modulation and nanosecond-level optical pulses for short-pulse testing and sensing systems.
• Can be used for pulsed optical gating, optical signal switching, time-domain control, and source modulation.
• Easy to integrate with DFB lasers, EDFAs, detectors, and fiber sensing systems.
Applications:
• DAS, OTDR, BOTDA, and other distributed fiber sensing systems.
• Coherent wind LiDAR, laser communication modulation, and high-speed optical communication testing.
• Research experiments, optical pulse generation, optical switch control, and instrument integration.
· Confirm the operating wavelength band: 1550 nm (C band) or 1310 nm.
· Confirm the SOA type: single-mode fiber (SM) or polarization-maintaining fiber (PM).
· Confirm the peak power class: 13 dBm, 17 dBm, 20 dBm, or 23 dBm.
· Confirm requirements for output isolator, pigtail connector, and external trigger interface.
Product Overview | Nanosecond optical pulse generation module based on a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). With external triggering, the output optical pulse can maintain a stable timing delay relative to the trigger source. |
Applications | High-speed optical communications, LiDAR, high-spatial-resolution distributed fiber sensing, and other nanosecond pulse test systems. |
Multiple Power Classes | 13 to 23 dBm; up to 200 mW (23 dBm). High-peak-power modules are available on request. |
High-Speed Pulse Edges | For the standard 13 dBm peak-power model, rise/fall time is approximately 2 ns. Higher-power models may have longer edge times. Ultra-fast 1 ns rise-time optical pulse modules can be customized; please confirm before purchase. |
High Pulse Extinction Ratio | > 50 dB |
Trigger Synchronization Mode | External trigger. The module can reproduce the pulse width, repetition rate, and coding of the external trigger pulse sequence with fixed timing behavior. |
Note: The parameters in this manual are standard values or typical values. Special wavelength bands, peak power levels, SOA types, isolator configurations, pigtail connectors, and trigger interfaces are subject to the order specification and factory test conditions.

* High-peak-power modules are available on request. Output power depends on input optical power and wavelength. For C-band products, testing uses 1 mW input optical power at 1550 nm.
** Applicable only to PM fiber input/output modules.
*** An output-end optical isolator can be integrated by default. The final configuration is subject to the model field or order specification.
**** For the 13 dBm peak-power module. Higher power may result in longer rise/fall times. A 1 ns edge-time module can be customized.
